Moey’s a Mom Who Rocks Every Princess!

Melissa Levis’s career as a children’s performer began with a very bad hair day. Actually, several very bad hair months.

ImageHer son, Monty, a toddler, was flatly refusing shampoo. “So,” she said, “I wrote a song called ‘Pierre Wouldn’t Wash His Hair.’ ”

That ballad describes a boy with hair so filthy that a bird drops a seed into it, and a flower grows. “Guess what?” Ms. Levis added. “The next day Monty washed his hair.”

Ms. Levis, right, still writes songs about little heads, but these days they’re adorned with ribbons and crowns, not sprouting buds. On Tuesday, during the first National Princess Week, she and her band, Moey’s Music Party, will release their third CD, “Princess Revolution!” (NewSound Kids). To celebrate, Ms. Levis will make weekend store appearances and host a full-fledged Princess Ball on Monday. Read the full article in the NYTimes by LAUREL GRAEBER
